BMW GROUP’S COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION.
BMW Group has a long-standing tradition of supporting education and school initiatives worldwide. As a global corporate citizen, the company recognises the vital role that access to quality education plays in fostering innovation, developing future leaders, and building stronger communities. BMW Group’s commitment to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education highlights the importance of these fields in driving innovation and technological progress. Through partnerships with educational institutions and organisations, BMW Group helps expand access to STEM education and nurtures the next generation of scientists, engineers, and technologists.
BMW GROUP SOUTH AFRICA DRIVES EDUCATION FORWARD.
BMW Group South Africa supports projects that promote social mobility, intercultural engagement, and equal opportunities. Through strategic collaborations with schools and youth development programmes, the company seeks to empower young people with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in various sectors.
One of our flagship initiatives, the Youth Employment Service (YES) programme, addresses the youth unemployment crisis in South Africa. It connects unemployed youth to economic opportunities, providing them with a 12-month quality work experience across various sectors, including within BMW Group South Africa’s own operations. This programme equips young people with essential skills, contributing to the development of a more resilient and prosperous economy. BMW Group South Africa welcomed its 2024 cohort at an onboarding event held at the BMW Group Plant Rosslyn Training Academy. To date, through our YES programme we have created over 2,400 work experiences.
Through education initiatives, BMW Group South Africa reaffirms its commitment to advancing education, training, skills development, and youth empowerment.
