      Charging stops needed

This is the anticipated number of charging stops you will need on your route.

Only actual existing charging points are included (status as of 25.04.2023), with the shortest possible diversions and a starting battery charge of 100%.

High-power charging stations (e.g. From the IONITY network) are preferred because they charge your vehicle with the maximum capacity.

      Total charging time

This shows how long charging will probably take overall on your route. Only actual existing charging points are included (status as of 25.04.2023), with the shortest possible diversions and a starting battery charge of 100%.

High-power charging stations (for example in the IONITY network) are preferable, as you can charge your vehicle with maximum charging power there.

      Total journey time incl. charging

The journey time indicated is the sum of estimated driving time plus charging time if you have to include charging breaks on your route.

It is assumed that you are travelling on the fastest route without any traffic hold-ups or other delays

Charging power depends on the state of charge, ambient temperature, individual driving profile, the use of auxiliary consumers, and the chosen vehicle. The charging times apply to ambient temperatures of 23 C following previous driving, and may differ depending on usage behaviour. The figures shown represent suggested figures for the basic configuration of the selected model. These figures may differ for vehicles with a different equipment specification.

With the My BMW app,  you stay on top of your range and charging status at any time and from anywhere. You can also easily plan routes optimised for charging and send them to your vehicle. Download the app now and try it out in demo mode.

      How were these values calculated?

These suggested routes provide you with an estimate of the expected journey time, including the necessary charging stops, with an initial battery charge of 100%. They assume charging points are free and working properly, and show you the fastest route option without traffic obstructions or other delays. The information on charging stops and duration is given on the assumption that you drive to these stops with a residual capacity of at least 10%.

It is also important to bear in mind that charging power depends on the state of charge, ambient temperature, individual driving profile and your use of auxiliary consumers. The charging times apply to ambient temperatures of 23 °C following previous driving, and may differ depending on usage behaviour.

On what assumptions is this calculation based?

The results of the range calculation are for guidance only, and should not be understood as guaranteed information. Actual range and charging time depend on other factors, such as state of charge, battery age and temperature, ambient temperature, voltage stability, driving style etc.)

All calculations are based on theoretical values, averages and assumptions, and are provided solely for guidance. The figures relating to range are based on WLTP values, which are more realistic.

      Fast charging station

If you need to act quickly in the city or while travelling, a fast charging station is just the right choice. This is because the direct current (DC) provided at these stations offers higher charging capacities than with alternating current (AC), such as that supplied by a domestic socket. This is why fast charging stations such as these are especially suitable for charging when you are travelling. In the display, you can see the minimum time needed to charge from 10 to 80% of the battery charge level with up to 50 kW output. Within this range, charging is fastest and also preserves the battery. A look at the map shows you all fast charging station within the BMW Charging network. (Valid as of 22/03/2023)

      AC charging station

You will find public charging station with alternating current (AC) almost everywhere. They are especially suitable for regular charging over longer periods – overnight, for example, or while you are at work. The diagram shows the minimum time to charge the battery from 0-100% with a maximum power of 11 kW. Take a look at the map and discover all the AC charging stations in the BMW Charging Network. (Valid as of 22/03/2023)

      Home Charging

      Wallbox / Flexible Fast Charger

At home, you can conveniently charge your BMW i4 M50 xDrive with a Wallbox or the Flexible Charger (Mode 2). They both use alternating current (AC). The Wallbox provides a maximum charging power of 22 kW, depending on the vehicle, optional equipment and market, and the Flexible Charger (Mode 2) provides a maximum of 11 kW. The diagram gives the minimum time to charge the battery from 0-100% with 11 kW of power.
